We also bought air conditioning units, a fridge and a washing machine for the house we are renting in Maragogi, as we move there this week. **Gulp** too many expenses all at once! I was berating ourselves for putting off the buying of appliances, however was reminded that we were not expecting to have to buy appliances, and that we had just rented this house four weeks ago, three days before Jonas was born.
So we have three more days here! It has been such a blessing to have this home to live in and have all the household things available for our use. It is exciting to move into our "own" place, and our kids are looking forward to Maragogi, however it is yet another big change in our lives. It is good that at least to the kids it feels like a familiar place. Hopefully we'll be able to settle in there and not have to buy too many things to set up house, and the kids will enjoy it there as well.
Once we move we don't know how long it will be until we have internet. Peroba does not have internet so we need to invest in some sort of internet box. Shaun went last week to pick one up and sign up for a contract, went through the whole process, and then they wouldn't let him pay because he didn't have a bank account here. So we may use a lifeline and call a friend. Otherwise we have to wait until we apply for our visas to be able to open up a bank account. The good news is as parents of a Brazilian we cannot get kicked out of the country! So we are here to stay, at least for a while!
Hopefully my next post will be written from our new home, and I can show you all around! Here's a few pictures of this week to tide you over :) It is another post loaded with Jonas pics.
He loves this look. Blue Steel.
A friend of ours here in Brazil crocheted this cute little hat and the booties below.
What is this thing constantly doing in my face?
No one is sick of holding him yet. And every day when they pray Lyla thanks God that mommy had baby Jonas in her tummy and Seth and Hazel pray that he is healthy and "developing strength." Hazel and Lyla are mothering their own dolls and talking about finding husbands and having babies of their own.... Today at supper they were nursing their dolls and we told them to put the dolls down. "But they're going to cry!!" was the response. I gave them a few diapers that Jonas outgrew (clean of course) and they are practicing changing their babies.
They want to get in on all the camera action, too.
